Welcome!

Hi!

This is a place where I’m going to share all of the fun things I make with my Young Living oils! One of my favorite things about essential oils is getting to make all sorts of fun things that are safe for my family! In all of my recipes, I use Young Living essential oils because they are amazing quality and I love the blends they have.

Foaming Hand Soap

This recipe is my current favorite DIY! I love it because it’s seriously amazing soap, and it only takes a few minutes to make! Every.single.one of you reading this should be making this hand soap. Traditional soaps from the store are full of “fragrance” and other potentially toxic chemicals, or if you’re buying natural soap, it’s probably much more expensive than just making your own.

Foaming Hand Soap

  • 1/3 cup castile soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby soap)

  • 1 Tbsp fractionated coconut oil

  • 10 drops essential oils

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups distilled water
  1. Mix coconut oil, essential oils, and castile soap together in jar
  2. Add water and swirl to combine

Another great thing about this recipe is that it’s totally approximate. I just squirt the soap and coconut oil into the jar and then add the essential oils. And then fill the jar half way with water.

Scent suggestions:

Christmastime

10 drops Christmas Spirit + 3 drops Peppermint

Spiced Orange

5 drops thieves + 5 drops orange

Lemongrass

8 drops lemongrass + 3 drops lemon

Note: This soap doesn’t contain preservatives, so use within 1 month of making (You don’t have to, but I figured I should write this!)

I love this foaming hand soap top from Amazon. It just goes on a normal canning jar and they work really well!

Spring Time Relief

This isn’t exactly a DIY but it’s something I’m using A LOT right now so figured I’d make a post for it. This is a good blend for spring time when you might find your eyes itching.

  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil
  • 2 drops lemon essential oil

Roller:

  • 7 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 7 drops lavender essential oil
  • 7 drops lemon essential oil

Mix in a 10 ml roller bottle and top with carrier oil of your choice.

Dishwasher Tablets

I was so excited to finally make these dishwasher tablets! I’d been looking for a good safe alternative to the powder I’d been using and so I decided to make some! This is so easy to make and it smells so good. And the best part – it actually works! My dishes are clean and sparkling and I’m so glad that I don’t have to worry about any nasty chemical residue on the dishes that my kids eat off of!

Dishwasher Tablets

  • 2 1/2 cups washing soda
  • 6 Tbsp salt
  • 30 drops Thieves essential oil
  • 60 drops citrus fresh/grapefruit/lemon essential oil
  • 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner (optional)
  • 1/2 to 1 cup water (added last)

Mix everything except water together. Add water until it is the consistency of wet sand and press into an ice cube tray. Let sit 24 hours. This should make at least 24 tablets.

Sleepy Baby Balm

I made this baby balm a few months ago as a baby shower gift, but made sure to make some extra for my kids so we could try it! It smells so nice and the kids both get a little bit on their feet before bed each night. It helps them calm down and gives us a little quiet moment at the beginning of their bedtime routine.

Sleepy Baby Balm

  • 1 cup of Coconut Oil
  • ½ cup of Beeswax (I’ve used pellets)
  • 6 drops of Young Living Lavender Essential Oil
  • 6 drops of Young Living Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

To make the balm:

  1. Melt the Coconut Oil and Beeswax together (I use glass jar in a pot of boiling water to do this).
  2. Add the Essential Oils to the Coconut Oil and Beeswax mixture and stir.
  3. Pour the mixture into tins with lids and allow to cool.
  4. Label and date the tins.

I used four little tins from amazon and I love how they turned out!

Also, I just discovered that this balm is amazing for dry skin! B had a spot of dry skin/eczema on his cheek and I put this on before bed and it looked so much better when he woke up! I love things that are multi-purpose!!

Flax Seed Hair Gel

I’ve been making my own flax seed hair gel for like 5 years. I love it and my hair is so healthy now. When I first started making it, I bought some fragrance oils in the scent I wanted and it smelled good. But then I started learning about scents, so I started using essential oils to scent it instead. Again, I just was using the oils that I liked the smell of. About 6 months ago, a friend told me that certain essential oils help to keep your hair healthy. I had NO IDEA! I just thought they smelled good! So, I switched up my essential oils and started using lavender and cedarwood. I noticed a difference in my hair immediately! My hair was so much softer after just that first day. It was then that I realized that I had totally underestimated essential oils. And my love for them just keeps growing!

So, here’s my updated recipe! (I now use lavender, cedarwood, and rosemary. Read to the end of the post to learn about the benefits of each of the oils.)

Homemade Flax Seed Hair Gel

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup flax seeds
  • 1/2 tsp (ish) vitamin E oil
  • 3 drops each of lavender, cedarwood, and rosemary essential oils
  • 3 Tbsp pure Aloe Vera Gel (optional)
  • Nylon knee-high (the cheap ones from the drug store)
1. Put water and flax seeds into a pot and bring to a boil, stirring often
2. Boil for around 10 minutes, or until a white frothy gel like liquid forms
3. Let cool slightly and poor into the nylon knee-high. Squeeze out the gel using tongs
4. Mix in the vitamin E oil, essential oils, and aloe vera gel
5. Store in an air tight container. I find that an 8 oz bottle lasts about a week and is fine to be left at room temperature. I store the rest of the batch in the fridge and use it the following week.
